‘Kristian Hernandez, the daughter of immigrants, heads up the North Texas chapter of DSA. She joined after the Democratic Party’s national convention in Philadelphia last July. “I started out as a Berniecrat,” she said, “and I saw first hand the mess that the Democratic Party could be when I was at the convention. I met DSA members and got turned onto the idea of being able to continue the fight after the convention.”

Houstonians will be serving lunch to Houstonians who cannot afford lunch on July 18th. Either by the reflecting pool or in the park adjacent to City Hall.
We will erect tents to protect ourselves from the sun, as July in Houston is a harsh time to be exposed to the elements, and serving a variety of foods, from vegan options to comfort foods to desserts.
We need volunteers to cook food.
We need volunteers to serve food.
We need volunteers to speak inside city hall chambers as we are serving the community.
We need people willing to put their skin on the line.
We need YOU!
Some of us will be in violation of 2 City of Houston ordinances, and will be subject to fines and other punishment, but not everyone will be in that position.
We will need comfort captains.
We will need people to help direct those we are serving.
We will need people to document.
We will need EVERYONE.
Please take off work if need be, and join us as we show that Houston is a city of Love, of compassion, and of dignity.
